Course Description 

Everyone shares responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, irrespective of individual roles.

 

Working Together to Safeguard Children (2015) places a duty on all employers to ensure that their staff are competent and confident in carrying out their responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting children’s and young people’s welfare; the roles and functions of agencies; who does what in protecting children; good practice in working with parents.

 

This one day courses which aims to give staff the tools to identify / recognise child abuse and what action to take. It will also teach knowledge and recognition of signs and indicators of abuse; how to refer to your designated person.  There is now a requirement for all staff working with Children & Young People must undertake this training every 3 years.

 

It is important for anyone who works in child care settings to recognise the importance of working in a coordinated manner in relation to Child Protection issues. There is now a requirement for all staff working with Children & Young People must undertake this training every 3 years

 

This course is aimed at those who work with children in a variety of settings including schools, youth programmes, family support centres, community groups etc. The course aims to enhance awareness and encourage good practice.

- What is child abuse

- Identifying Abuse

- Recognising signs, symptoms and indicators

- Identifying behavioural changes

- Legislation and guidance

- What to do and where to get help if you suspect child abuse

- What happens when there is disclosure

- Sounding the Alarm

All our courses are in line with the latest government legislation and guidance including "Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015" (Groups 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 & 8) Keeping Children Safe in Education (Jan 2017) and are fully compliant with local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) requirements.  They are  compliant with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Section 11 of the Children Act 2004,  section 175 of the Education Act 2002 and section 55 of the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009, the General Dental Council (GDC) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) 

The course also provides valuable opportunities to support individuals to develop skills, gain underpinning knowledge and understanding to meet the evidence requirements of individual units for the OCR Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
